Lesley Patterson, Director of Review & Improvement Services, is coming to Christchurch to speak with the CPPA membership about the new ERO Operating Model.

Over the past six months ERO has been developing a new operating model for school evaluation. This is a result of feedback ERO has received from the sector over time, and in response to the Government’s 2019 review of Tomorrow’s Schools. Sector input into the development of a new approach has been provided by way of an Advisory Group made up of school principals.

ERO’s proposed new operating model is significantly different to our previous approach to school evaluation. It also proposes very different reporting model. The approach is not yet a “finished product”.

ERO’s next stage is twofold. Later this year, ERO is planning to work with a small number of schools to continue to refine the model through prototyping. Research and learning by working with schools to test the proposed model as a prototype will enable ERO to further refine the approach and inform other changes necessary to ensure a successful roll out to all schools from 2021.

In addition to the research and learning phase described above, ERO would like to engage with regional principal groups to provide us with up to date information about the proposed approach, and discuss with school leaders any questions or comments you may have.

Lesley and another of her team, are meeting with us on THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24 at 2:30pm.

Please put this meeting in your calendars now and make time to get along. You need to be informed and inform yourself by attending these opportunities. We will have refreshments after the discussion where we can carry on informal conversations with each other and the team. Please feel free to bring some of your leadership team if you think it may be useful also.
