Date:Wednesday 3 August
Time: 7:30 – 9:30am
Marienne Langton: Principal| Tumuaki Te Ara Koropiko West Spreydon School
“Our school system is predicated on the belief that all children come to school full of emergent energy, able to hold more than one thought/opinion in their heads at a time and capable of learning from their mistakes. How many adults do you know who can tick all of the boxes? Emergent energy, adaption and integrative thinking are the fruits of maturity. Maturity is a luxury that the brain can afford, when all of the attachment needs are met first. The brains of traumatised children get stuck in protection mode. The great news is that we have the keys to get them unstuck. The answers are simple, but not easy. Imagine if you were the answer for a child!”
Marienne Langton
Marienne will share with us her 9 years of study on Trauma Informed Practice, highlighting the “miracles & successes” and also the “screaming crash and burn” failures associated with working in this area of growing need.
This area is a real passion for Marienne, and she is more than happy to be involved in a Q & A session as part of this gathering. As always, we will encourage open dialogue as well, and as such, have the room booked until 9:30am so we can engage with each other and share experiences we all have had.
7:20am: The Venue will be open. Coffee etc available
7:45am: Breakfast
8:15am: Marienne to speak
8:45am: Sharing and whanaungatanga
